Last week the entire school engaged in a full day of activities to celebrate National Poetry Day. The children had a wonderful day learning about different poets including: Benjamin Zephaniah, Rachel Rooney and Joseph Coelho. They were given the opportunity to explore the poetry, write poetry and perform poetry. The day culminated in a fantastic recital of the winner groups from each year group performing in front of the school, in an assembly, to celebrate the day.
Congratulations to Christie who represented our school in the cross country finals last night. Despite the rain, she gave an outstanding performance over the 2000m course at Belmore Primary Academy, finishing in an amazing sixth place out of 75 runners. The majority of athletes appeared to be much older than Christie so she shows great promise for a sporting future!
Congratulations to our cross country athletes, all of whom completed the tough course of 2000m at Vyners' playing fields last night. Great sporting values were shown by all and an excellent group of parent supporters helped all to reach the finish line! A special mention goes to Christie who came in an amazing third place and is through to the Borough finals on Monday.
