  • Brunel University's Young Scholars Programme

    Fri 29 Sep 2023

Whitehall Junior School is very fortunate to be working in partnership with, and taking part in, Brunel University's Young Scholars Programme this academic year.  This morning, Dr Blank, Professor Koshy and Mrs Jones attended our school to launch this programme with a whole school assembly.  This is a highly effective and innovative programme, which is designed to raise the aspirations and intellectual confidence of pupils.  The programme uses targeted educational material, four colourful and inspiring educational magazines supported by four learning journals. The material is intended to be used at school before it is taken home. The targeted activities support children’s learning, academic performance, and well-being. They build cultural capital and general knowledge, boost self-confidence, raise aspirations and help children socially.  Whitehall Junior School is very excited about being a part of this programme and we know that the children will benefit greatly from it.

  • Bikeability

    Mon 25 Sep 2023

During the week beginning 25th September, twenty-eight Year 6 children took part in a four-day Bikeability course, which was led by instructors provided by the Hillingdon Local Authority.  Each child participated in a two-hour session on each of the four days of the course enabling them to progress from level one (riding their bike on school site) to level two (riding their bike safety on the roads that surround our school).  The children thoroughly enjoyed the four-day course and are now better equipped to ride their bike safely.

  • Y3 and Y4 French Storytelling Session

    Mon 18 Sep 2023

Y3 and Y4 warmly welcomed a French visitor in to our school this term. The children had the opportunity to listen to two traditional tales being told solely in French while also enjoying beautifully played accordion music by our very talented visitor. Many of the children had never seen a real accordion before and they were fascinated by it. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed this experience and many of the Year 4 pupils were surprised by actually how much they could actually understand.

  • Skip2bfit Workshops

    Wed 06 Sep 2023

Every class across the school had a Skip2bfit workshop today, led by an instructor from this company.  Skip2bfit uses counting skipping ropes and music to motivate everybody to exercise by challenging them to take the two minute skipping challenge.  This challenge is not only fun, it incorporates numeracy as well as teaching the importance of fitness and healthy living. The school has purchased a counting skipping rope for every pupil across the school so that we can continue with the skipping challenges in school and record progress over time.  These workshops were thoroughly enjoyed by all and we are looking forward to tracking the progress we make in the coming weeks.  Here is their website for further information: Skip2bfit - Skipping Workshops in Schools
