  • Poetry Recital

    Fri 29 Apr 2016

We were all delighted with the enthusiasm and skill of our children in learning a poem by heart linked to their Easter Holiday Project, ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Mind’. Despite being a challenging task, the teachers each selected a winner from their class. These individuals then performed their poem at a poetry recital in front of their parents.

The skill of committing a poem to memory is a challenging one. To perform it with expression, volume and in some cases with props and actions to engage an audience is even more difficult but our children managed it brilliantly! The ability to memorise information is necessary throughout life and we were proud to see children employing a variety of strategies to learn their poem. They will then be able to apply these skills to other areas of their learning.

When asked about the experience, Ellie, a year six pupil, commented,

“It was good to be chosen because I like poetry and it was a good opportunity to express myself.”

Each child was presented with their own poetry anthology as a prize and we hope they will find other poems that inspire them in the future.

  • Happy Birthday Your Majesty!

    Thu 21 Apr 2016

Keen to wish Her Majesty The Queen a happy 90th birthday, lots of our pupils have taken the time to write her letters wishing her well.  These have been sent off to the palace!  Copies of some example letters can be read in our reception area or viewed by clicking into the gallery of this site (see within 'children' menu).

  • Health and Fitness Week

    Mon 18 Apr 2016

What an action packed week we have planned!  Firstly, the staff hope you all liked the gift of a skipping rope which you were all given today and will use it, either at home or at school, to keep you active!

Following on from your Easter projects, 'Healthy Body, Healthy Mind', we have various activities organised this week to develop your knowledge and understanding of how to lead an active and healthy lifestyle further.  We have a whole school fitness competition happening - to test your stamina - as well as other planned sporting tasks to develop your specific skills (so remember your PE kits everyday this week).  As well as this, we were fortunate to have Caterlink lead our assembly this morning to discuss healthy food choices and complete food workshops with Year 3.  We are very fortunate to have a fruit stall on the school playground on Tuesday morning so remember to bring some change!

To conclude the week we will complete our annual Sponsored Walk on the school field so please remember to ask for sponsors as all of the money raised will go towards purchasing further sports equipment for your PE lessons and after school clubs.

So remember...Keep Fit, Stay Healthy and Enjoy!

  • Double Winners!

    Wed 13 Apr 2016

It's official - Whitehall Junior have won both the league and the knock-out competition in Uxbridge and District.

Having already wrapped up the league last month, all eyes were on Whitehall and Rabbs Farm as they underwent battle at the neutral venue - St Andrew's - to decide the winners of the Uxbridge and District Knock-out competition.

Despite dominating proceedings, Rabbs Farm went into a shock lead, early in the second half. Adonis punished a fumble by Rabbs Farm's otherwise brilliant goalkeeper to level the score, taking the cup final into extra-time. A penalty shoot-out seemed inevitable before our captain, Bradley, smashed in a daisy-cutter from the edge of the box. Whitehall held on for another deserved trophy and made history in the process: winning the trophy for the first time in 32 years and completing the double for the first time in Whitehall's illustrious history.

Match squad: Hayden, Charles, Raghav, Bradley (c), Jake, Cuba, Adonis, Kairo, Sakariye, Cainan.

    Scorers: Adonis, Bradley.

    MotM: Bradley.
