Happiness at the heart of learning

WRITING

Write a little everyday!

Allow your child free access to pens, pencils and general writing equipment. No writing opportunity should be wasted!

Ask your child to read you what they have written and support them in making any corrections. Remind them to use the skills they know - including capital letters for names and at the start of a sentence and full stops. Don't forget to take time with handwriting!

Some ideas:

  • Write a review of a game, book or film
  • Write a shopping list for the next food shop
  • Write each other notes and messages
  • Write a letter to a friend or family member living somewhere else
  • Write an email to a friend or family member living somewhere else

SPELLING

Keep practising your high frequency words. These are the most important words for you to learn.
