  • Y3 Trip to Uxbridge

    Wed 30 Nov 2022

During November, all Year 3 classes enjoyed going in to Uxbridge to learn more about our local history. Various points of interest were highlighted throughout our walk around the town centre and the children were keen to learn some interesting new facts about Uxbridge. For example, some children found out for the first time as to why we have a golden post box in Uxbridge.

In addition, we had a wonderful session in the library with two enthusiastic librarians who gave the children lots of information about how to use the library, and the children had the opportunity to complete quizzes using non-fiction books which linked nicely to our science learning this term.

  • Year 6 Battle of Britain Bunker Trip

    Fri 25 Nov 2022

On Tuesday 22nd, Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th November, Year 6 pupils visited the Uxbridge Battle of Britain Bunker.  All pupils had the opportunity to visit the exhibition and visitor centre as well as descending into the underground bunker itself, which was used throughout the Battle of Britain during World War Two.   All pupils learnt about the key moments of history that shaped Britain’s air defence and led to the construction of the Bunker. They saw real artefacts including aircraft wreckage, uniforms, and telecommunications equipment used by the RAF to defend the nation. They also experienced for themselves the pressures, complexity and fun of working in the bunker with the hands-on, audio-visual interactive activities within the exhibition.  Within the bunker itself, the children were able to see the Operations Room for No. 11 Group (Fighter Command) during the Second World War and learnt about Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, and ‘Women in the Bunker’.  The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their visit and gained valuable information to support their learning of this unit of work that they are currently studying in class.

  • Young Shakespeare Company

    Fri 18 Nov 2022

Yesterday, the Year 5s were fortunate to have a visit from the Young Shakespeare Company, who put on a spectacular performance of the play, 'Macbeth'. The children have been studying Macbeth as part of their English lessons and it was fantastic to see it brought to life! Not only did the children thoroughly enjoy watching the show, but also had the opportunity to get involved in the play and fulfil various acting roles. This experience has no doubt helped to further enhance their learning and we look forward to continuing our learning of this play in English.

  • Children in Need

    Fri 18 Nov 2022

Thanks to you all for supporting this year's Children in Need appeal. Children have worn Pudsey ears to school, spotty clothes, yellow outfits and some have even shown their creative flair by designing their own T-shirt or covering their clothes with spots! A great team effort all round. Further information on the work of Children in Need and this year's appeal, along with the many charities they support, can be found on: https://www.bbcchildreninneed.co.uk/
