  • District Girls' Netball Rally

    Sun 25 Feb 2018

On Saturday 24th February 2018, we took two teams to take part in the District Girls' Netball Rally which was held at Ryefield School.  Both teams played very well throughout the group matches of the competition but unfortunately, only our A team qualified for the quarter finals.  Their quarter final match was against Oak Farm B and our team won that match 12-0.  Their semi-final match was against a very good Hermitage side who beat us 7-2 and it was Hermitage who went onto win the whole competition.  Due to the A team's wonderful performance, they came away with bronze medals and also qualified for the Borough Girls' Netball Competition! All sixteen girls who played on Saturday did very well and we are very proud of all of their performances and great sportsmanship in their matches!

  • Daniel Lewis Visit

    Thu 01 Feb 2018

On Friday 1st February, we were very lucky to be visited by Daniel Lewis, a GB Triple Jumper who competed in the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Every child took part in a fitness circuit where they were given a huge amount of encouragement from Daniel, Sportivator (Omar) and WJS staff. It was excellent to see the children so enthusiastic about fitness; they clearly enjoyed the experience. Daniel then led a fantastic, inspirational assembly where he explained his journey as a triple jumper thus far. Daniel demonstrated some of his training exercises and some children were chosen to replicate these. Even a few lucky staff members were chosen too!

Thank you to all who have already began to bring in sponsorship money. The money raised will help our school to buy sports equipment for PE lessons and will help fund training and equipment for GB athletes. A very worthy cause!
