On Saturday 24th February, we took a team to take part in the District Girls' Netball Rally, which was held at Ryefield School. The team played exceptionally well during the group phase of the competition: beating Hillingdon 'C' 7-0, losing to Hermitage 'A' 2-1 and drawing with Oak Farm 'A'. The team performed so well that they qualified for the quarterfinals. The standard of play that our team showed in the quarterfinal was very impressive but unfortunately, they did not progress to the semi-final, losing 4-0 against Rabbsfarm. The team showed wonderful sportsmanship throughout the tournament and there was some phenomenal shooting, and interceptions, too. Thank you to all of the family members who came along to support the team.
The Young Shakespeare Company visited Whitehall today to perform 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' to all of Year 6 in preparation for their study of this Shakespeare text in their upcoming English lessons. The performance was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the children and they now have a thorough understanding of the story plot and main characters ready for their study of this text.
The Year 6 children visited Brunel University, to gain a first-hand experience of what it is like to be a student.
Throughout the day, the children were able to hear from student ambassadors, and to learn more about life on a university campus. The trip engaged and inspired the children, and informed them about some of the choices that they will have in the future.
Place2Be's Children's Mental Health Week 2024 takes place from 5–11 February 2024 . This year's theme is 'My Voice Matters'. Place2Be explain: 'My Voice Matters is about empowering children and young people by providing them with the tools they need to express themselves. During Children’s Mental Health Week we want all children and young people, whoever they are, and wherever they are in the world, to be able to say – and believe - “My Voice Matters”'. Our pupils will be having a special assembly to focus in on this theme and then following up on this back in their classrooms.
