Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Year 4 took part in an exciting trip to the National History museum which linked in nicely with our current topics in science. It was pleasing to see how much knowledge the children had also retained from topics studied last year in Year 3. Some of the best quotes from the children include, “You know I’m fascinated with rocks and this is taking it to another level!” and “This is so amazing I want to stay for ever!” The children also used their geographical skills by keeping a close eye on the various underground stops and noticing the route which we had to take.
This week in school, we will explore the theme for World Mental Health Day which is: 'Mental health is a universal human right.' Children in Year 3 will learn how physical exercise can help our mental health. Year 4 will look at kindness and gratitude improving our mental health. Year 5 will explore the impact of self-talk on our mental health and Year 6 will consider the importance of sleep and its contribution to our mental health.
Thanks go to all in 6W for leading our harvest assembly today and reminding us to be thankful for the food that we have. Thanks also to all of our families who kindly donated food items which will be collected by our local food bank and shared within the community.
This week, Whitehall Junior School took park in Great Ormand Street (GOSH) Charity’s 5k family fun walk/run, RBC Race for the Kids, to raise funds to help build a new Children’s Cancer Centre at Great Ormond Street Hospital. It was an event that was thoroughly enjoyed by all and we were pleased to see so many family members come and join in this event, thank you for your support. We are pleased to announce that we raised £451.00 for the GOSH Charity plus £104.45 Gift Aid. Thank you to all those that sponsored Whitehall Junior School!
