Special Educational Needs

Our SEND Coordinator is Mrs L Huse. She can be contacted on: 01895 234071 or via email on senco@whitehalljunior.org

Whitehall Junior School is committed to providing an appropriate and high-quality education to all children attending our school. We believe that all children, including those identified as having Special Educational Needs (SEND) have a common entitlement to a broad, balanced and accessible academic and social curriculum enabling them to be fully included in all aspects of school life.

We believe that all children should be equally valued in school.  We will strive to eliminate prejudice and discrimination, and to develop an environment where all children can achieve their potential and feel safe.

We aim to ensure teaching and learning is responsive and takes in to account the range of needs within our school. We recognise that pupils learn at different rates and that there are many factors affecting achievement, including ability, emotional state, age and maturity.  We are aware of the varied needs of our pupils, for whom maturity and prior learning experiences are crucial factors in terms of readiness to learn.  We believe that many pupils, at some time in their school career, may experience difficulties which can affect their learning, and we recognise that these may be long or short term. Provision for children with SEND is a matter for the whole school and should include developing positive working partnerships with families.
