Y4 Spelling Bee Results!

After much dedication, commitment and endeavour memorising the spelling of over one hundred words, the children of Y4 participated in the 2016 Spelling Bee, across three levels: Foundation (Y1 and 2 spellings), Intermediate (Y3 and 4 spellings) and Advanced (Y5 and 6 spellings).

The stakes were high, as were the performances of the participants. Children took part in class heats and eagerly anticipated who would make the finals at the end of the week.

The finals consisted of two rounds: the spelling of a randomly-selected ten words from their word list and then spelling words against the clock, in front of an audience - certainly a pressure situation.

Umniah (4T), Adam (4B) and Niharika (4L) won the three respective levels. All three shone, particularly during the speed round - Niharika even spelt an amazing 18 words correctly in under a minute! Miss Phillips - the adjudicator - marvelled at the standard of the competition, "Truly amazing, you should all be proud of yourselves."

Year 3 now await their turn next year, in what will be the third annual Spelling Bee - the 2017 edition. "This year's standard will be hard to top!" Mr Cumming, the official timekeeper remarked.
