I hope that you had a wonderful half term break and a chance to rest and spend lots of time with family and friends.
It was a very busy end to last half term: we had our trip to Wembley Stadium plus many action packed lessons. The progress you’re all making is very impressive and you’re showing that you are well prepared for Year 6 next year.
We still have many things to look forward to in our upcoming lessons this half term: in English we will study and enjoy the texts 'The Dragon Slayer' by Gill Howell and 'Rooftoppers' by Katherine Rundell; in Mathematics we will consolidate our knowledge and understanding and apply these to investigations; in science we will complete our work on ‘Habitats and Life Processes’ and we will finish our topic unit ‘Invaders and Settlers’ which involves the Anglo Saxons and Vikings.
As well as this, you will continue to have swimming lessons from Monday 3rd June, 1.30-3.30 this half term. It is essential that you bring in your kit each week. This includes a swimming costume, for girls and swimming trunks/shorts for boys, a towel and a bag to keep your kit in. A swimming hat is required for those with long hair. Please also make sure that jewellery is not worn on this day, including watches and earrings, as you are not allowed to wear such items during swimming lessons.
Don’t forget our class assembly on Friday 14th June – I know you will make this last assembly in Year 5 an amazing performance!
Something else to look forward to is our upcoming Health and Fitness Week (week beginning 24th June) and our sports day which is on Tuesday 25th June this year.
It would be really helpful if you continue to practice your maths and reading in addition to completing your weekly Mathletics and grammar homework - below are some really useful links.
I am very much looking forward to our last half term together!
