It has been a delight to work with you all over the course of the Autumn term- we have developed so much in how we approach work with an independent, positive Year 5 attitude and we have learnt so much in our subjects- from our grammar work and comprehension skills, to reading Macbeth in Shakespeare's English originally written 400 years ago! That's not even mentioning our work on the Egyptian afterlife, mummifying Mrs Gadher or discovering the truth about how Tutankhamen's tomb was found.
As you know, the expectations for Year 5 continue to be high and our next term is no exception. Not only will we be starting our new topic of North America, but we will also be learning far more in our English, Maths and Science work- with fairy tales and poetry, ever demanding Maths problems to challenge ourselves with and a look at the Earth and beyond.
Alongside this, we will be starting our swimming lessons in Spring term from February through to the end of the year. More information has been emailed to your families on this. Please note as well that this term, we will be visiting a Jewish synagogue on Thursday 25th January and running our International Dance Evening on Wednesday 28th March.
Have a restful holiday period- we are looking forward to continuing to challenge you all when you return! Remember too, to continue to practice your times tables and to read regularly- I look forward to hearing about what you've been reading upon our return!
Mr Anderson, Miss Malcolm and Mrs Gadher
